Step One: Using your right hand, hold your recorder out in front of you, gripping it by the foot joint. Make sure that the back of the recorder, (the side with only one hole) is facing you. |

| Step Two: Using your left hand, place the fat, flat, fleshy part of your big, fat, thumbprint over the thumb hole. Make sure that the thumb hole is right in the middle of your thumb print. Your thumb should be at a 45 degree angle to the recorder. Now place your pointer finger over the top hole on the front of the recorder, making sure that you cover the hole with your fingerprint, not the tip of of your finger. | ![]() |
| Step Three: Now you're going to place your right hand in the correct position. Continue to hold the recorder with your left hand. (Review steps one and two.) With the palm of your right hand facing away from you, count down four holes from the top, and place your right thumb behind the fourth hole. Remember to use the thumb print, not the tip of the thumb. Leave your right hand relaxed and don't grab the recorder, just support it with the right thumb. | ![]() |
